Who is Sonic Pompadour? Just a girl from NYC who fell in love with Paris as a teenager and knew she would be back one day as an adult. When I am not at my day job, I frolick in the musical playground that is Paris. I spend an obscene amount of money on concerts. I spent a little over a year singing lead vocals with blues/soul band The Wild Beanz and now I’m working on a new project: a soul/funk trio called Soul Side Up (more on that very soon!). I believe there is only way to listen to music: LOUD. I believe music can have a profound effect on your spirit. My ipod thinks I am schizophrenic because I listen to a lot of random, different stuff. If music were a chocolate eclair, I would eat one everyday and probably get fat. Which is ok, cause life just tastes better with music. A healthy dose of indulgence is a good thing.
I use this blog to chronicle my life as a musician in Paris and to promote gigs and local talent. Music is part of me, and since “birds of a feather…”, I have the unique chance to meet and exchange with different musicians that I think are doing some really cool things. I don’t hold an MFA in creative writing or write for a living but I do love telling stories and capturing moments. I enjoy promoting my friends and other talent I randomly come across. I won’t post about something or someone for the sole sake of producing regular content. It’s simple: if I am inspired, I will write about it. That said, I update my blog about 1-3 times a week. I try my best to take good photos and videos (with my trusty Sony Cybershot), but you will not find any award-winning photography here!
The gigs I showcase are only a mere fraction of all the great live events in the City of Lights. If I had all the time and money in the world, I would most likely be in the front seat of every live show (and blog more as a result). But then who are we kidding, if I had all the money and time in the world, I would not be blogging, I would be travelling around the world in my diamond-incrusted private jet. Until then, I am in Paris slowly going deaf from playing music too loudly.
Am always open to hearing about any cool stuff going on in the music scene in Paris so please shoot me a line at: sonicpompadour@mail.com
